Spirit Alive explores the themes of the New Testament and the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in our church. It is the third album in the maxiPraise trilogy of themed children’s music, encouraging commitment to living a life filled with the Spirit, sharing Jesus, and building the body of Christ until He returns.

Unlike the earlier maxiPraise acoustic albums, the tracks on Spirit Alive are fully sequenced, contemporary instrumentals with rich vocal arrangements by teen/young adult singers, appealing to an intergenerational audience. For the younger listeners, Nothing Better Than This, Share Jesus, Peace Like a River/Bubblin’ Up, and Build Up the Body are easy songs to add actions to.

It’s difficult not to feel the joy in the rhythms of Comforter and Jesus Inside or the solid old-school rap of Have Faith in God. Feel it bubble up in the fun medley of Peace Like a River / Bubblin’ Up as you add a few actions and clapping for the younger age group.

The title track, Spirit Alive, wrestles with seeing self through the eyes of grace, discovering new, real life in the Spirit of freedom. It includes a spoken reading from Romans 6 & 8 (The Message).

The beautiful solo vocal in Nothing Without Your Love brings 1 Corinthians 13 alive: ‘love cares, trusts, hopes, love never fails.’

We Are The Church is an intergenerational country-style hymn for the whole church to sing. Now sung internationally in different languages, this album has the original maxiPraise version of this unifying favourite.

How Sweet is a new lyrical take on the old hymn “How Sweet Are the Tidings” and One Day Soon looks forward to the day when all suffering is over and we will see Jesus face to face.
